At the Long Beach Invitational, the varsity crews competed in a 4,000 meter head race while novice teams challenged each other to multiple 850 meter sprints. Chapman’s Novice team competed in three sprints, coming in second to CSU Long Beach in front of UCLA in their strongest finish.

NARF Results 2010
Men’s Crew faired below expectations in the Newport Autumn Rowing Festival. However, the Novice 8 boat defeated USC by 6 seconds and Cal Maritime by almost a full minute. In addition, the Varsity 4 beat USC’s A boat by 18 seconds, and Cal Maritime’s B boat by 31 seconds.
Steve Guentz Appointed Interim Program Director
Over the summer, there have been a lot of changes being made to Chapman University’s Crew Program. One of the most exciting is the promotion of Steve Guentz to Interim Program Director position for both the men and women’s team. Coach Guentz has over 20 years of experience, both as a rower and a as coach. His innovative ideas and palpable enthusiasm will be instrumental in years to come as the men’s team grows.
